Není na světě mnoho měst, které by vyvolávali v návštěvníkovi tolik rozporuplných dojmů jako hlavní město Mexika. Dnes druhé nejlidnatější město na světě, bývalo kdysi údolím s rozlehlým jezerem, v jehož okolí žili lidé již před 12 000 lety.
Asi nikdy nezapomenu na okamžik, kdy jsem poprvé přilétala do Mexico City a letadlo kroužilo noční oblohou nad milióny světel velkoměsta, prostírajícího se od obzoru k obzoru. Byl to úchvatný a podmanivý pohled. A já jsem věděla, že se mi tohle město bude líbit.

was our second stop in Central Java in Indonesia, after (following) Yogyakarta. We arrived to Borobudur in the afternoon, with a crowded bus, as always. Afternoon tropical downpour chose its routine fifteen minutes exactly at the moment when we were getting off the bus. A thirty meter sprint through a watter wall with heavy bags on our backs to the nearest stall with food. Actually, to the the large tent supported with poles,covered with a flat canvas roof, underneath there was a series of small restaurants. Well, in fact small Asian buffets.

was a leap from Malay Melaca and its thirty degree’s hot weather, day and night, up to a ten degree’s early rainy Spring in Wellington, where we landed. It was the break of September and October 2001, one month and a few days of our journey towards Far East. Far for us - Europeans. We were looking forward to New Zeland very much. It was a principal course of our one-year journey at last. |

Chiapas - god-forsaken Mexican state bordering with Guatemala, which due to its location at the very south of Mexico, remained forgotten for long time even by Mexican government itself. The main reason of this omission was lack of communications, which would connect the capital of Mexico with Chiapas. Mexico is still a huge country, the federative republic consisted of 32 states. |

Pokud je v okolí Mexico City místo, které byste určitě neměli vynechat, je to padesát kilometrů severně ležící Teotihuacán. Majestátní stupňovité pyramidy Slunce a Měsíce, připomínající z dálky obrovské kamnenné hory, se od dob vrcholného rozkvětu tohoto starověkého velkoměsta, příliš nezměnili. Zmizela "jen" vápenná vrstva se zářivě červenou barvou, která ve světle zapadajícího slunce musela působit magicky. Teotihuacán byl centrem zřejmě největší předkolumbovské říše - v dobách největšího rozkvětu ovládal dvě třetiny mexického jihu, Guatemalu, Belize i část Hondurasu a Salvadoru a jen samo město bylo domovem neuvěřitelných 125 000 obyvatel. Teotihuacán byl budován od konce prvního století křesťanského kalendárře a jeho nejvyšší stavba - Pyrámide del Sol se základnou 222 x 222 metrů a výškou 70 metrů byla dokončena někdy kolem poloviny druhého století. Zhruba stejně vysoká Pyrámide de la Luna stejně jako většina dalších staveb města, které se kdysi rozkládalo na ploše 20 km čtverečních, byla postavena v průběhu třetího až šestého století. Většina z nich však, v podobě kopečku pokrytého vrstvou zeminy a trávy, čeká na své znovuodhalení dodnes.

Lefkada – ostrov na západ od řecké pevniny v Ionském moři, Agios Nikitas – vesnice na západním pobřeží nevelkého ostrůvku, který připomíná na mapě slzu nebo perlu.
Ta jména znějí dálkou, romantikou, exotikou...slunce, moře...Asociace: olympští bohové, Zeus a Héra...Homér a Odysseus, Herakles..Afrodíta...Achilles...

is a name of a magic place hidden in the coast of a wide bay called Golden Bay in the north part of New Zealand's south island. This is the name of a backpacker, which you can find in Zealand, this distant traveller's destination, countless number. But Shambala is the only one. I do not know if this wanderer's shelter took the original name of the place. I would say, however, that it was the owner of the ground who gave it its name, the owner who we asked for one- week asylum in May 2002 and whose personality is hard to describe. I do not remember exactly how we learned of Shambala. |

we stayed on the way towards the North, along the west coast of New Zealand's South Island. The day was almost over and we started to look for a nice place to park and stay overnight, as always. We already visited Fiordland and also Franz Josef Glacier. The road led along the sea, separated from us only by strand of bushes and grass. We were driving long time and still could not find the right place. We didn't want to camp somewhere right next to the road in the dark, so we took a lost sideway, probably leading close to the sea. We just got the idea of spending the night in the car on the beach. |

continued our next journey . We came back from Indonesia, this time by boat, even though we had already bought a return air ticket to Singapore. Our journey was far from being straightforward, so we arrived at Singapore on a motorboat with capacity of at about 10 PAX which was coming from the island of Batam. Passing through Singapore, we planed to collect a fecundations of the cancelled air-tickets. After that, we intended to visit Malaysia, because Indonesian visa have ended one week before our next connection to New Zealand. Well, why not to take a look at Malaysia when it was on the way.
